  • why?

    why/how can we pluralize the word sky


    there is only one.


    thought of that, this morning, pre-caffeination of course.

  • i guess over a mass sky that extends farther than one person could see, it would be skies.

    so if i said “the skies are clear” i think it should mean that the sky all around, farther than where i can see, is clear.

    because it’s possible that person A in new hampshire says the sky isn’t clear, whereas person B in massachusetts says it’s not clear, thus, the skies are not clear if they’re referring to said area of sky.

    … or something.

  • wait, i meant, if person A in NH says the sky isn’t clear, and person B in MA says the sky isn’t clear, and person C is referring to said area of sky that person A and B is talking about, then he can say “skies” since he can’t see both from where he is to just call it a “sky.”

    yeah, that’s what i think and i’m sticking to it.
